There'south cipher mind-blowing about it. I'm just telling a woman she looks beautiful the way she IS – and, let'southward exist honest, what adult female doesn't wanna hear those lyrics?!"[iii] Mars's A&R, Aaron Bay-Schuck, was responsible for finding the original idea from American tape producers and songwriters Khalil Walton and Needlz.[4] [5] Mars originally sang the claw that Khalil and Needlz wrote for a feature on a Lupe Fiasco tape. Ari Levine explained: "Needlz had a runway with a melody idea past Khalil Walton that was presented to us by one of the A&R guys. Bruno and Phil came upwardly with the chorus, and then Needlz sent us the files and nosotros replaced a agglomeration of sounds with our sounds and I programmed drums in the MPC, and we wrote the residual of the song. I never met Needlz or Walton".[5] The song was offered to Lupe Fiasco and CeeLo Greenish, but at that point, Mars decided to go along it.[6] [7]
